Upstage Downstage Resources: Paper and a container to keep them in Appropriate Age: grade 2 and up
Before beginning this game create a stage in tape on the floor and go over the areas of a stage ( center stage, upstage center, downstage center, upstage right, center stage right, downstage right, upstage left, center stage left, downstage left.) You can make this game more or less challenging by labeling the areas of a stage.
Write the stage directions on nine separate pieces of paper, fold them and place them in a bowl/hat/cup etc.
Choose one student to be the director. The director will pull ur a sage direction from the hat or bowl. The director calls out the stage direction. The other students must go to that area of the stage.
you can make the game more difficult/interesting by changing the directions to add more such as " face stage right and point to center stage." or "hop to upstage left."
